Michael helped Metia Interactive develop two episodes in a series of interactive game books using the Unity game engine telling stories set in world of the Guardian Maia IP.
Guardian Maia is a hybrid historical/science-fiction story that draws on the mythology of the Māori culture in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Our heroine Maia goes on an epic journey of discovery and adventure across two episodes where players can change the outcome of their story by choosing Maia’s actions and surviving brutally fights with a lite RPG combat system.
Michael’s contribution to the projects was in the game book’s design, user interface design and assisting the writer in creating the novel length branching story scripts with embedded game code written in the Ink Script, the narrative scripting language by Inkle Studio.
